About SFMEA

Our Mission & Vision

Welcome to the San Francisco Municipal Executives’ Association website.  The Municipal Executives’ Association (MEA) has been active in San Francisco government for more than 60 years.  Incorporated in 1943, MEA has served and advanced the interests of San Francisco managers since its inception.  In the early 1990s, we were selected by the approximately 1000 managers in dozens of classifications throughout City government, the Housing Authority, and in the Trial Courts to be their exclusive representative for contract negotiations.

Our Mission

MEA’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for all San Franciscans and visitors by promoting sound government practices, supporting professional excellence for our City’s managers, and maintaining the highest ethical standards in the delivery of service to the public.

Our Vision

MEA’s public policy focus, along with the bread and butter work of protecting jobs, ensuring proper classification and compensation, expanding management training and, of crucial importance, negotiating terms and conditions of employment, is only possible with the broad support of managers citywide. For MEA to live up to its mission, we must claim our role as San Francisco’s stewards and work tirelessly to ensure and promote the value of public services and the excellence of the public employees who provide them.

In this website you will find information about MEA and news of issues which are current and important to our members. We appreciate your interest in our organization and encourage your participation. It is a simple fact – the more city managers who become MEA members, the stronger MEA is when it comes time to speak out on public policy, represent you individually, or protect and enhance the hard won wages, benefits and working conditions achieved in bargaining over the years.  Your active participation in MEA is critical to our mission.   Please click on the Membership link to complete the application forms.

We look forward to working with you.
